An Overview OF EVERYTHING DISC®
The DiSC model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and adapt their behaviors with others within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships.
The Everything DiSC® Workplace assessment is a non-judgmental tool that helps you identify and explore behavioral differences among your co-workers and colleagues.
The assessment asks you to rate the degree to which you agree with a series of statements about yourself and your behavior. It then presents those results on a circular map to show where your personal preferences show up in relation to the other styles.
What does DiSC stand for?
Participants are grouped, based on their answers, into quadrants of preferences which form the acronym DiSC:
- Dominance: direct, driven, forceful, results-oriented, and strong willed
- influence: enthusiastic, outgoing, sociable, lively, and talkative
- Steadiness: patient, tactful, accommodating, calm, and even-tempered
- Conscientiousness: private, reserved, accurate, analytical, and logical
Which DiSC Style is better?
Each person is a blend of all four styles. Certain preferences and tendencies show up more strongly in one or two styles. There is no perfect DiSC® style, nor are there good or bad behaviors. Each style has benefits and value.
Everything DiSC® is a way to understand yourself better, the first step to becoming more effective with others. It helps you learn about those around you so you understand their priorities. You’ll also learn how their preferences might differ from your own.
The assessment helps to increase your own self-awareness because it highlights differences and potential for misunderstandings. It also gives you a way to communicate with others so you can build more productive relationships at work.
